Post election era

Well, what's happened after the election is interesting. Obama became president, and met with George Bush. He has gotten he and his family have gotten their code names, as has Biden. Obama's code name is Renegade. (What is the point of having a code name if everyone knows it?)

Palin has been attacking McCain's campaign, and trying to bat back many of the rumors that have spread about her.

Ted Stevens has been reelected and faces seven charges of corruption, and 35 years in jail.

Victory

Well Obama won. VE day, or victory election day(nice pun). I know, I know, the Obama won a week ago, but still, I'm happy. I still think we shouldn't have to wait until November to take office. Still Obama won 365(number of days in a year) to 162, and 52.6% of the popular vote to 46.1% of the popular vote. McCain looked pretty sad.

It was a good night for the democrats, who ended up winning 6 seats in the senate and 20 seats in the house. Not enough to defeat a filibusterr, but still a decent gain.

Nice election

Ads

Well, we haven't seen many political ads in New Jersey. Mainly because New Jersey is such a strong Democrat state. Anyhow, it seems both candidates are showing more ads in this final stretch of the race.
Obama went as far as to show a thirty minute infomercial on almost all the television stations. It was well made, and had a nice touch of music to make the whole thing more dramatic than it really was. The problem is, many people are getting sick of this election. This ad might not have helped as much as it was supposed to.
Anyway, there have been many great ads. Has anyone see Lydon Johnson's Daisy Girl commercial? It would probably work on McCain.

Bateman Vs Holt

Well, either Bateman or Holt will be elected for congress. They both went to NBTHS, both did an amazing job speaking etc. I am for Holt. I agree with more of his opinions on certain topics, but I do wonder why NJ is taxed so much compared to other states. Any opinions anyone?

Vice Presidential Debate

Well, the vice presidential debate was pretty interesting. I didn't know Palin was an Ok debater. I didn't even expect her to speak coherently, let alone give a successfull debate. I had just found some respect for her until she called Obama a friend of a terrorist. Then, I lost all my respect for her. Now, I think, wow is she dumb.

"Obama's friend" was a vietnem protester, and Vietnam was over thirty years ago, so, what does this have to do with Obama? Is she implying that he is a terrorist? Is she saying "Hey Obama must be a terrorist because of his name and religion."

If so, I think she has some mental issues.

Stock Market

The Stock Market does not seem to be doing very well. Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, Fannie May Freddie Mac, AIG, etc, their all disappearing. Stocks went down 500 point, then up few hundred or so, then down another 400. The government had to ban short-selling.
And McCain responds "the fundamentals of our economy are strong"!
Funny. How does all this make our economy strong?
When he finally realized the economy was not strong, he decided setting up a commission was the best way to solve the problem. What is that going to solve?
Really shows how ineffective some of McCain's views are doesn't it? It shows in the polls too. Obama has seen a great rise in support.
So, I say let the Obama handle the economy.

Starting this Blog

Well, my first post on this blog. As of now I am democratic, and I believe Obama will be a better president than McCain, but I will scan the news for interesting stories on politics and try to keep an unbiased mind. Please comment.
